Truth and Grace

"And of his fullness we have all received, and grace for grace. For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ." John 1:16-17

Grace and truth? Ya, grace. Everyone understands that part, but truth? What does truth have to do with anything?

Jesus said "If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

So, if we abide in Jesus' Word, ie we are His disciples, we shall know the truth. Am I right in saying that the truth is not a single snippet of knowledge, but more a discerning wisdom of sorts, which governs our beliefs and decision-making.

Also, am i right in saying that sometimes (or most of the time rather), we as humans are so immersed in ourselves that we fail to recognise our short-comings. As in, we do not see the sins of our selfs. Thus, we need true godly companionship to identify our weaknesses to set us straight, or in other words reveal the truth. And since truth and grace come together, we are then able to confess and repent and receive grace.
